GABA Women

In February 2005 GABA’s forum for business and professional women was established, initially under the name of “Women in Business Brisbane”. In the past, GABA Women has offered meetings with guest speakers from private sector industry and professions, government and city council representatives, as well as from not for profit organisations.

When originally founded, GABA Women focused on networking opportunities between business and professional women in Brisbane including the exchange of information on training, seminars and initiatives offered by government agencies and Brisbane City Council. In 2008, a revitalised GABA Women started up following a survey conducted to identify what the membership wanted from the GABA sub-group. Overwhelmingly, the membership wanted it to widen its focus to include cultural and community interests, as well as language and culture.

In 2008, GABA Women breakfasts had speakers attending two of the functions:  Liz Kratz from Kratz Jewellers, who spoke about gemstones, and Freddie Steen from the Romero Centre who spoke on human rights. In July, one of our members went back to Germany to marry her Australian fiance, and in September, our members supported the Brisbane Oktoberfest with gusto. In 2009, we anticipate that we will do even more.

For further details on functions and events, please check our GABA Events Calendar or contact us here via email.

Most of our activities are open to non-members as well as members!

We look forward to welcoming you to our next function...
