Gabi Sartori

Gabriele Sartori

Gabriele is Senior Adviser to ARENA, the federal Australian Renewable Energy Agency. She advises executive management on industry and strategy-related matters and is ARENA’s liaison person for the mining industry, electricity generation and network matters. Identifying new opportunities for renewable energy projects and demand-side management are the focus of Gabriele’s work.

Gabriele has an industry background in mining and electricity generation, sat on various industry and government committees and chaired a number of industry association working groups. 

She also lectures Energy Efficiency at the International Energy Centre’s Master of Energy Studies and was recently appointed to the Energy Users Association of Australia’s Board of Directors.

She is also an invited speaker at international climate change and energy events. Gabriele has an MBA and a Postgraduate degree in Public Relations.

Leon Stephan

Leon Stephan

Leon joins the committee as secretary with a wide range of experience in large corporates, previous accounting firms, financial services and funds management and a number of consulting and smaller businesses he has formed and operated.

Leon’s extensive financial experience as a senior banker and CEO / fund manager of mortgage funds provides an insightful opinion on debt structuring, funding needs and compliance.

Wolfgang Kleeberg

Wolfgang Kleeberg

Wolfgang is a tax account with over 25 years experience in accountancy and taxation.

After graduating from the Free University Berlin with a Bachelor’s degree in Business administration he worked for several years for accountancy firms in Germany.

Wolfgang and his family decided to migrate to Australia in 1997. He initially worked for accountancy firms and then for more than 15 years for the Australian Taxation Office, much of this time at the Executive level.

Wolfgang is now a partner with Cinch Accountants & Advisers. They provide holistic financial services including all aspects of accountancy, taxation and business advice. Many of Wolfgang’s clients have business interest in Australia and Germany and require his knowledge and understanding of the German language and business culture.

With over 10 years experience in the IT industry, mainly in the field of IT security, Markus has worked for high profile companies and clients like Mercedes-Benz or Fujitsu.

After migrating to Australia Markus founded Happy Cloud Solutions, a company focused on providing tailored IT services, consulting and managed services.

Markus has a Masters degree in Management and is a graduated engineer in Information Technology.

Willy Guertler

Willy is a senior professional freight forwarder with over 35 years of international experience working for DB Schenker in all areas of logistics in Germany, Middle East and now in Australia.

In June 2015, Willy started his own freight consultancy business and in addition to other Qld based customers, he is also currently contracted to DB Schenker to develop the PNG Trade Lane.

He brings a number of valuable qualities to your GABA Committee including a comprehensive knowledge of back-office systems and procedures.

Alex Stathakis

Alexander Stathakis

Alex Stathakis is director and founder of Conversio Pty Ltd, a Brisbane-based carbon and energy management consultancy. Previously he worked at EY’s Climate Change and Sustainability Services. An analyst for Low Carbon Australia Limited (now the Clean Energy Finance Corporation), Alex played a key role delivering the Australian Government’s National Carbon Offset Standard Carbon Neutral Program. As the Queensland program manager for City Switch Green Office, Alex supported commercial office tenants to improve office energy and waste efficiency.

Alex is a sustainability expert specialising in greenhouse gas emissions reporting and verification services. He has lectured at UQ Business School on corporate sustainability, climate change and strategy, and published articles on carbon reporting, climate policy, and adaptation to extreme weather events and climate change. He is passionate about supporting clients who are seeking to integrate environmental sustainability into their business and helping them navigate the perplexing world of carbon accounting and sustainability reporting.
